Often, we talk or read about many physical benefits of swimming like improving cardio, flexibility, tonicity, and strength. But it’s not all! What about all those invisible benefits?
Swimming has many psychological benefits - an important impact of a mental health- a topic about which there is increasingly more attention and awareness over the last decade.
By swimming, tension and stress are relieved due to the relaxing effects of the water and to the production of a so-called happiness hormone serotonin. The focus is shifted from daily stress to the technique you work on.
After swimming you have a feeling of accomplishment which in turn builds positive attitude and confidence. It helps to become more relaxed, patient, cautious and composed which are important factors of a wellbeing and mental health.
Social benefits are not to neglected either. Getting into a summer, everyone is at the pool or by the lake to share this great and refreshing sport.
And for those who can’t swim yet, it’s never too late to start! It is one of the rare sports which you can learn at any time and gives you a lifelong benefit.
